Jesus’ Birth is the Foundation for Being Pro-life

The Scriptures resound with the unmistakable message that God cherishes the sanctity of every life. God is the ultimate giver of life, and even the smallest and most vulnerable lives matter profoundly to the Creator (Matthew 18:6). Journeying through the scriptures, this blog dives into the significance of Jesus’ birth as the foundation for being pro-life.

If you’ve read the whole Bible, especially the Old Testament, with stories like Sarah and Abraham’s miraculous birth (Genesis 21), and you’re not convinced of how much the Lord loves the miracle of birth, wait till you hit the Gospels.

Pro-life is pro-mom and pro-dad

From the first chapter of Matthew, God shows that he cares not only about the birth of Jesus but about his legacy. He cares about every mother and father who came before Jesus, leading to the Messiah’s birth. God highlights the genealogy of Jesus in this first chapter and honors the mothers and fathers who came before Him. It stands as a testament to the essence of pro-life values, embracing and cherishing the lives of both the mother and father alongside the precious baby.

So, why did Jesus come as a baby?

We know everything God does is with intention.

To be fully God and fully human, He had to start from the smallest beginnings, just like we all do. Picture the Almighty God as a baby on Earth — it’s mind-blowing. Jesus came as a baby to magnify the humanity and humility of Christ. We can only grasp a fraction of the humility it took for Jesus to enter the world in such vulnerability.

His humble entrance into the world through Mary’s womb displays God’s honor and respect for the unborn child and the beautiful pregnancy process that God created (Philippians 2:7).

A ‘fetus’ with a divine purpose

John felt the presence of God and RESPONDED from the womb. Not only does this interaction speak to John’s purpose, which is determined even from the womb, but it also accurately portrays the personhood of every ‘fetus’ or pre-born baby.

Need more proof that you are fully human and even aware from the womb? Let’s look at the verses where Mary and her cousin first met while pregnant.

“When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice, she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.” – Luke 1:41-44

This story not only shows that we as humans are aware and fully human from the womb, enough so that we might leap in the womb from being in the same room as the son of God, but we also know that John was destined to be the one who paved the way for Christ to come. We see that John was called and reacted to his destiny to be the ‘Baptizer’ even from the womb, as his mother was filled with the Holy Spirit while carrying him. Every baby is ultimately created by God and, therefore, has a divine purpose from the womb.

Isaiah 64:8
“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.”

A birth Mary never planned for…

Even the gift of Jesus’ birth was not under what we could consider ‘ideal’ circumstances.

Jesus shows us through his birth that he values and honors those who allow him to show up in messy and unprepared places.

An unplanned pregnancy.

A woman without a room to sleep in.

A government that wanted to end the life of her child and thwart both of their destinies.

Sound familiar?

In the end, no one could abort the plan of the Lord. No circumstance was too low for the King of Kings to be born into. His destiny was too great for outward influences to stop Him. God can show up anywhere with divine miracles! As a pro-life ministry, we witness testimony after testimony that proves God’s love for every mother and father facing an unplanned pregnancy as Mary and Joseph did. There’s no such thing as a hopeless situation!

The miracle of birth is a joyful event

When the angel shared the news of Jesus’ birth with shepherds in the field, the first words were, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people” (Luke 2:10).

News of a new life is always good news! It’s okay to be fearful when we face unprecedented circumstances like the news of an unplanned pregnancy.

The miracle of birth can be a joyful event, no matter your life circumstances. While the birth of the son of God is unquestionably a miraculous event to be joyful about, in reality, every baby is a miracle. Each child that’s born should be celebrated!

Do you want to be a part of the miracle of a child being born, even in the least likely of circumstances? Do you want to help provide women with essential healthcare so they can have equal access to motherhood?

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.
