The March for Life began in 1974 as a response to the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, which legalized abortion. Fifty years later, since Roe v. Wade has been overturned, the mission of the march continues to evolve. At Save the Storks, we’re dedicated to creating a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. This year, as we embrace the 2025 March for Life theme, #WhyWeMarch, we’re sharing our reason. Here’s why we march for Equal Access to Motherhood℠!
Why We March
The March for Life was initially started to fight the law that made abortion legal across the U.S. Since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022, why are we still marching? Well, leaving this decision to each state did not end abortion. In fact, with the rise of telehealth abortions, abortion vans, and abortion pills being sent across states, the abortion industry, in many ways, hasn’t slowed down. That’s because abortion isn’t just a political issue—it’s a cultural one.
We’re marching for life with intentionality and a new vision this year. At Save the Storks, we know that to fix something as deeply ingrained in our culture as abortion—something that has been entrenched for over 100 years since Margaret Sanger began Planned Parenthood—we need innovative solutions to make abortion unthinkable.
The Real Barrier to Women Choosing Life
What’s the real barrier to women choosing life? It’s not just a matter of choice; it’s a matter of access, support, and resources.
Although the pro-abortion side claims they fight for women to have a choice, statistics tell a different story. According to a study by the Guttmacher Institute, 74% of women seeking abortions say having a child would interfere with their education, work, or ability to care for dependents. The same study shows that 73% cite financial concerns as why they feel they cannot have a baby. Additionally, more than 5.6 million women in the U.S. live in maternal care deserts (lack access to maternity care).
So how do we fix this?
Marching for Equal Access to Motherhood℠
The pro-abortion movement claims to support choice, yet many women feel they are pressured toward one option—abortion—due to:
- Financial status
- Marital status
- Lack of support
- Lack of material goods
- Lack of health insurance
Our march and mission as an organization is to serve as a bridge, connecting women to the care and support they need to confidently choose motherhood.
Equal Access to Motherhood℠ is the Road to Real Choice.
When a woman has Equal Access to Motherhood℠, she’s:
- Supported with easy-to-access care in pregnancy and beyond
- Confident to raise her child, choose to foster, or choose adoption
- Empowered to become the type of mom she most aspires to be
- Equipped to pursue motherhood AND career, college, or dreams
True choice empowers every woman to be a mom on her terms. It provides the practical support needed for her to embrace motherhood—whether by raising her child, fostering, or choosing adoption. It ensures she doesn’t have to choose between motherhood and her dreams—whether that’s her career or education. Because until a woman feels fully supported in embracing motherhood, only then will she have REAL choice.
That’s Equal Access to Motherhood℠ for all women, including those with the least access.
Join us at the 2025 March for Life!
As we march for life, our goal remains clear: to ensure every woman has Equal Access to Motherhood℠. Abortion is not just a political issue—it’s a cultural one, and many women feel abortion is their only option because they lack support. At Save the Storks, we’re committed to changing that by providing the resources, care, and empowerment women need to confidently choose motherhood. Together, we can create a world where every woman has real choice.
