March For Life in D.C. highlights women in crisis and the 32.5% of Gen Z never born
PLANO, Texas — Four years after Roe v. Wade was overturned, pro-life leaders say the fight for women and unborn children is far from over — a message underscored at this year’s National March for Life in Washington.
Over the last 50 years, the abortion landscape has changed drastically, as the rise of online abortion pills has allowed women to mail-order abortion drugs and self-administer them, often with no medical oversight. This reality has exacerbated the sex trafficking industry, given abusers an easy way out, and placed life-altering medication into the hands of young girls — medication that is easier to obtain than cough syrup.
“This is why we march every year,” said Diane Ferraro, CEO of Save the Storks, a national pro-life organization on a mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.
“We march for the dignity of every woman who has been told abortion is her only answer. For the millions who have faced pain and regret of abortion because they were never fully informed. And for the 32.5% of Gen Z in the United States who were never born,” Ferraro remarked.
Debbie Biskey, CEO at Options for Her, one of Save the Storks’ partner Pregnancy Health Clinics, spoke on the national stage at the March for Life, sharing how Save the Storks’ mobile medical clinics have saved thousands of lives.
“Since May of 2020, we have used Save the Storks’ mobile medical units, where over 3,500 babies have been saved in New Jersey … 3,500 lives, children who are alive today because the mobile medical unit showed up at exactly the right moment,” Biskey shared.
For Save the Storks, one of the most impactful parts of the March for Life is the pro-life signs held proudly throughout the crowd. Signs are a powerful way to express each pro-lifer’s “why.” With social media reach and cameras everywhere, March for Life signs often reach far beyond the streets of Washington, DC., speaking not only to those marching in person but also to millions of people online.
“A few well-chosen words or a powerful image on a sign can offer encouragement to moms, give a voice to the voiceless, and serve as a meaningful tool to change hearts and minds,” said Ferraro. “Christian and Catholic pro-life signs can be powerful reminders of God’s heart for life. Sometimes, a Bible verse is all you need.”
At the march, Save the Storks also collaborated with liveitloudmaya, a social media influencer and spokesperson for Live Action, to create a video about what Maya would say to a woman considering abortion.
“The March for Life is a direct example of Save the Storks’ national reach and overarching impact on the life-affirming movement. We are honored to be a part of ‘the largest annual human rights demonstration in the world,’” said Ferraro.
Save the Storks’mission is to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy. This national organization, which started in 2012, focuses on three key areas of impact, including elevating women’s healthcare through strategic partnerships with pregnancy health clinics; mobile medical clinics that bring women’s healthcare directly to where it is most needed; and a digital platform for women, offering 24/7 access with real care and real options.
