National non-profit encourages women to say ‘yes’ to both their future and their children

PLANO, Texas — As Women’s History Month begins, Save the Storks is calling for a broader definition of empowerment — one that affirms a woman’s ability to pursue her education, career and goals without sacrificing motherhood.

Save the Storks, a national pro-life organization partnering with Pregnancy Health Clinics, has dedicated its efforts to reshaping the modern conversation surrounding unexpected pregnancies, countering the societal message that empowerment requires abortion.

In a culture where “empowerment” is often defined by the ability to end a pregnancy, Save the Storks maintains that true empowerment affirms a woman’s capacity to pursue her education, career and life goals while also embracing motherhood.

“For too long, society has sold women a lie wrapped in the guise of empowerment,” says Diane Ferraro, CEO of Save the Storks. “The prevailing message to women facing an unexpected pregnancy is ‘you can’t.’ You can’t finish school, you can’t have that career, and you can’t achieve your dreams if you have a baby. At Save the Storks, we exist to tell women, ‘Yes, you can.’ Real empowerment isn’t about eliminating a child to fit into a lifestyle; it is about providing the support and resources necessary for a woman to thrive in every role she chooses, including mother.”

The mission of Save the Storks is particularly urgent given the current pressures facing young women. Recent data from Gallup indicates that gender gaps regarding abortion views have reached historic highs, with young women increasingly leaning toward the belief that abortion is a necessary social good.

However, the pressure to abort is often compounded by a fear of failure in motherhood. A study by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, highlights the damaging effects of “idealized portrayals of motherhood” on social media. The study found that exposure to curated images of clean houses and happy children increases anxiety and envy among new moms.

Save the Storks recognizes that this toxic societal pressure to abort, combined with the fear of not being a “perfect” mom, leaves many women feeling backed into a corner.

“Women are facing a two-front war on their confidence,” says Ferraro. “On one side, they have a culture telling them that a baby is an inconvenience that will ruin their future. On the other side, social media tells them that if they do become mothers, they must be flawless, or they are failing. We are changing that narrative by ensuring that the first face they see isn’t one of judgment, but one of radical support and hope.”

Save the Storks addresses this crisis of confidence through innovation. By partnering with Pregnancy Health Clinics to deploy Mobile Medical ClinicsSave the Storks ensures that women in underserved communities have access to life-affirming care and works to connect women with resources that extend far beyond birth, addressing housing, education and material needs.

Save the Storks is inviting the public to celebrate the strength of women by supporting those who feel they have no options. By pivoting the language from “choice” to “capability,” Save the Storks honors the historical resilience of women who have long balanced the demands of family and society.

“There is no child without a mother,” Ferraro adds. “When we save a stork, we are really saving a mother from a decision made out of fear. We are helping her write a history for herself and her family that is defined by strength, not sacrifice. This March, we celebrate every woman who stared down the impossible and realized she was strong enough to do it all.”

DEAR READER

We hope this article enlightened and inspired you to stand up for life.

Despite the overturning of Roe v. Wade, abortions are still prevalent in our nation. As a response to the overturning, the media: from the news to entertainment sources to even political figures and celebrities, have pushed abortion as an ongoing agenda, shaping the way this generation thinks and acts. Misinformation is being spread every day, and people are sadly believing the lies.

Our articles and stories aim to tell one thing: the truth.

We know that it is both a blessing and a challenge to understand the reality of abortion, because knowledge incites belief, and belief incites action. But we’re in this together. We believe that we can make abortion unthinkable.

With your support, we look forward to a future where young women are empowered to fight for their own rights: a right to bring life into the world, to be fearless leaders, to be examples of hope, strength, and undeterred resilience. We look forward to a future where life can happen.

If this article strengthened your belief to reach women everywhere with the truth and to let life happen, then please consider helping us extend our reach by making a gift right now. Your gift of just $10 or $20 helps our mission to create a story of hope and empowerment for every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy.

We aim to create a culture that views “pro-life” as equivalent to having empathy and compassion, providing holistic care (before and beyond pregnancy) and education, and most importantly, choosing to speak and act in love. We are pro-life, pro-love, pro-woman, pro-solution.

Don’t just be part of the movement, be part of the solution, and give today.
