Over the weekend, British media reported that the staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) in London have reconsidered the case of Charlie Gard and may not be taking him off life support.
The 11-month-old’s parents raised nearly two million dollars to go towards his treatment in America; however, several weeks ago, doctors at GOSH decided the child needed to be taken off life-support. His parents, along with the rest of the world, are dedicated to fighting for his right to life.
The original decision to take Charlie off life support was based on the belief that no treatment would give him a chance at life. Now, “in light of claims of new evidence,” GOSH has applied for a fresh hearing in the British High Court. Charlie’s parents have until Wednesday to submit any new written evidence before the court reconvenes this Thursday.
With the world watching, Charlie’s parents have received the support of millions, including medical experts around the globe. The hospital received a letter from seven of these medical experts pointing to unpublished data regarding cures for Charlie’s disease.
This new evidence could be what Charlie’s parents need in order to get him the treatment he needs and deserves.
